It isn’t just the kids of celebrities who are wearing childrens designer clothes these days. In fact, more and more parents are finding value in buying brand name clothes for their offspring.  One huge reason for this is the kids themselves; there is often a lot of peer pressure about what to wear and what not to wear. Children can be very cruel and many parents want to avoid their pride and joy coming home all upset because some fashion-bully picked on their kid’s sense of dress.

On the other hand, there are many parents who feel that childrens designer clothes are sending the wrong message to their kids; we should value people for who they are and not what they wear. The risk is that you could turn your own child into the type of fashion-Nazi that you are trying to protect them from. Young people are very impressionable and if they believe that clothes are that important then this will be a value they internalise. They may begin choosing their friends on the basis of what they wear; this is probably not the best criteria for choosing playmates.

The decision to buy kids designer clothes for your children is going to be a personal decision; there may not be one right answer in regards to the question of to buy or not to buy. There is no doubt that children look good in brand name clothes and this is likely to give their confidence a boost; it will also make it easier for them to fit in with the trendier kids in school. Of course there is also the risk that some parents begin to treat their kids like dolls that they like to dress up; if young people are going to be wearing the clothes they should definitely have a say in the matter.
